Events & Conventions Venue Sales Reporting & BI

An 8-hour weekly report, rebuilt into a trusted live dashboard.

The situation

The private-hire conventions division was under scrutiny for underperforming revenue. Every week, the Sales Support Manager, Finance Business Partner and admin staff spent 8 hours compiling 30 Excel files (across New Business, Account Management and Agency) and reconciling them against last week's data and other sources. A previous consultancy's Power BI attempt returned figures the team didn't trust, so it was never rolled out to the 30 end users.

What we did

Rebuilt reporting for the Conventions and Marketing Directors on a proper data-warehouse method, with a live connection to Dynamics as the single source of truth, comparison views and new KPIs. We added advanced analytics (regression for marketing, automated text insights and new fields) so leadership could finally see the full picture, and built a business case comparing Power BI against the alternatives.

National Organisation BI Governance, Licensing & Adoption

Turning scattered BI into a governed, self-service platform.

The situation

The organisation wanted to drive self-service Power BI across the business and had named 20 "Power BI Ambassadors" to lead it. An earlier two-day onsite course got users only as far as a basic dashboard on an Excel source, because true self-service needed coding skills like SQL. Momentum stalled, the team felt left to their own devices, and licensing and governance were unmanaged.

What we did

Defined change management, governance, licensing and Power BI best practice, plus new ways of working and security. We built developer-resilience processes so a new joiner could be productive on day one, mapping the front end to the SQL database, table types and functions, and introduced landing-page and usage concepts across the whole organisation.

Outcomes

£32K/yr

saved through right-sized capacity and licensing

4–5 hrs → 40 min

a legacy SSRS report rebuilt with drag-and-drop and better functionality

Global Professional Services Team Enablement & Automation

Building an analytics team that no longer needs consultants.

The situation

A People Insight / MI team had low dashboard uptake and only two of five people who were genuinely effective in Power BI. Leadership in Talent and Learning & Development wanted to lift both capability and adoption, and to stop paying external firms tens of thousands for reports that delivered little value.

What we did

Trained the team on analytics, data modelling and data-warehouse concepts, M-code, advanced DAX and visuals, with best-practice documentation. We led the analytics behind annual strategy packs, automating 10,000+ manual steps across global and 17 business-line cuts, and mentored junior staff to run end-to-end automation for their own departments.

Outcomes

2/5 → 5/5

of the team now highly effective in Power BI

1,820 hrs/yr

of manual work automated by the mentored team, one project cut from 3–6 months to 3–4 weeks

10,000+

manual steps removed from strategy packs, signed off across leadership (GMT & PLT)

National Healthcare (NHS) Analytics Training & Adoption

Making a national analytics tool something managers actually use.

The situation

A national analytics tool was seen as being for analysts only, with adoption concentrated in a small technical group. It needed to reach decision-makers across Acute, Specialist, CSUs, CCGs and private providers to genuinely inform care and finances.

What we did

Led national analytics enablement with 170+ tailored onsite sessions across the NHS, and scoped and built a full self-serve support area (40+ manuals, a 150-item FAQ, common scenarios and videos), putting expert-level knowledge at everyone's fingertips and freeing the central team from routine queries.

Outcomes

170+

tailored training sessions delivered nationwide

40+ & 150

manuals and a 150-item FAQ, cutting inbox queries and freeing capacity

Analyst → Manager

an "analyst-only" tool that leaders now use proactively
